A day from my perspective

One assistant across the day I actually have.

Marcus · Co-founder of Situate

My day moves between client work, project notes and private commitments. These videos show how I use Situate to prepare, reply and follow through. Each starts with a task you choose and sources you connect.

  1. Calendar · Meeting history · Project notes
    08:12

    Start with what matters.

    “Brief me on today.”

Situate gathers the relevant pieces into one personal briefing—not another inbox to sort.

  2. Mail · Calendar · Gmail draft
    10:34

Reply with the whole project in mind.

“Read Elena’s latest email and draft a reply.”

Situate reads her email and prepares a reply with the project decisions and details I would otherwise have to find first.

  3. Calendar · Previous conversations · Research · Notes
    13:25

    Walk in already briefed.

“Before this meeting, tell me what happened last time and what is still open.”

Ask for a brief before a meeting, or set up a recurring task to prepare one. You choose when it runs.

  4. Meeting transcript · Project notes · Tasks · Gmail draft
    14:22

    Turn the conversation into progress.

“Read the transcript from my last meeting, add my next steps, and draft a recap email for everyone who attended.”

Share the transcript. Situate adds your next steps and drafts a recap for the attendees. You review it before sending.

More than a fixed set of features

Build the tools your work calls for.

You can extend Situate, not just use it. Describe a job you want help with and it builds a plugin—a reusable tool for your assistant. Ask for changes when your needs change; Situate does not decide on new capabilities by itself.

Your next idea

What would you ask your assistant to do?

Start with a task you repeat or information you keep pulling together by hand. These examples suggest tools you could build, depending on the connections available. Recurring tasks run because you explicitly set them up.

  • For client work“Before every client call, brief me on our history, open decisions and promises.”Calendar · Mail · CRM · Notes
  • For research“Every Tuesday, show me new companies and developments relevant to our market.”Web sources · Saved research · Personal interests
  • For projects“Every Friday, collect this week’s decisions from GitHub, Slack and project notes into a project history.”GitHub · Slack · Project files
  • For relationships“Show me who I have not spoken to recently and which follow-ups I promised.”Contacts · Calendar · Mail · Notes
  • For learning“Turn the notes I confirm into flashcards and show me a practice set every evening.”Notes · Highlights · Personal schedule
  • For weekly perspective“On Friday, show me unfinished commitments, waiting replies and blocked projects.”Tasks · Mail · Messages · Project context

Built through conversation

Say it. Review it. Use it.

Describe the workflow instead of coding it yourself. Situate builds a plugin you can use again. Check what it does before you rely on it, especially if it changes files or acts through your accounts.

  1. 01

    Describe the outcome

Ask in ordinary language. Start with what you want to happen, not a configuration screen.

  2. 02

    Check what it does

Review the generated tool, the access it uses and the actions it takes. Start with a task whose results you can check.

  3. 03

    Choose when it runs

Run it when you need it, or explicitly set up a recurring task. You choose what to automate.

Freedom with responsibility

Your tools. Your decisions. Your responsibility.

Choose what your assistant does, including what you want it to repeat. That freedom comes with responsibility for the tools you run, the access you provide and the actions you set in motion.

  • You set the task.Ask for the tools and changes you need. Situate does not independently decide to expand its capabilities or pursue new goals.
  • You choose what repeats.Recurring tasks need your explicit setup. Automation follows that setup; it does not mean asking you again before every action.
  • Know what you run.Plugins run as trusted code with your user privileges, not in a separate security sandbox. They can access files, run commands and use connected accounts. Review tools and results; AI can make mistakes.

Why we’re building Situate

Less time organizing. More time doing.

We want an assistant that makes the information we already have useful, without another system to maintain. We’re building Situate together, starting from two different needs.

Situate co-founders Marcus and Nils together

I built Situate because I wanted tools that fit my work—not another productivity system to maintain. I use it every day to prepare my day, answer clients and plan around work and private commitments. When I need a different workflow, I ask it to build one. I choose what to run and automate.

I have 13 years of work notes in Evernote, but older knowledge is hard to reach. I want to explore how AI can make that experience useful again. I bring my background in sales, management and processes to Situate, with a focus on making it useful and easy to use in everyday life.

FAQ

Before you build your first tool.

Is Situate free forever?

Yes. Situate is permanently free, not a trial. You connect your own AI provider; any subscription or usage charges from that provider are separate.

Which AI providers can I use?

Choose from OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Gemini, Mistral, DeepSeek, xAI, OpenRouter and more. Situate supports the same providers as Pi Coding Agent, including compatible custom endpoints.

You can connect with an API key or, where supported, sign in with an existing account such as ChatGPT Plus/Pro or GitHub Copilot. An existing subscription does not always include usage here: Claude Pro/Max access through third-party apps uses separately billed extra usage.

Local models are also an option through tools such as Ollama, LM Studio or llama.cpp. These may need additional setup, and capabilities depend on the model you choose.

Do I need to know how to code?

You do not need to write the code yourself. Describe the outcome in ordinary language and Situate builds the plugin. You still need to understand what you run. Ask it to explain the tool, check the results and get technical help if you cannot assess the risks.

Can Situate work across private and professional context?

Yes. You can connect sources from both parts of your life, where you have the necessary access and authorization. Choosing sources gives Situate context; it is not a security sandbox that restricts plugin access to those sources.

Can a plugin take action for me?

Yes, where the connection supports it. You can request an action directly or explicitly set up a recurring task. There is no guaranteed confirmation before every action. If you want drafts for review rather than automatic sending, make that part of the workflow and check the tool before using it.

Will Situate keep adding capabilities on its own?

No. You ask for new tools and changes. A recurring task you explicitly set up can run automatically, but that is different from the assistant deciding to give itself new jobs or capabilities.

Are plugins sandboxed?

No. Plugins are trusted code running with your user privileges. macOS protections still apply, but Situate does not isolate each plugin behind its own access restrictions. Only run tools you trust, check their behavior and consider the consequences before automating actions.

Can Situate connect to every service?

No universal connection is guaranteed. A service needs an accessible API, file, export or other stable interface, plus your permission.
